Uttar Pradesh Election: Kidwai Nagar Assembly Constituency 2022

Kidwai Nagar is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Kanpur Nagar district. People of Kidwai Nagar voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.

In 2017, the Kidwai Nagar assembly seat had 3,54,651 registered voters. Of the, 1,92,387 were male and 1,62,264 were female voters. 0.3% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Kidwai Nagar constituency had 9 candidates for assembly seat contention. Kidwai Nagar was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Mahesh Chandra won the election by upstaging Indian National Congress's Ajay Kapoor by a margin of 33,983 votes.

The top two candidates split 92.6% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Mahesh Chandra got a total of 1,11,407 votes, while Indian National Congress's Ajay Kapoor secured 77,424 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Sandeep Kumar secured 13,273 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 54.6%, 37.9% and 6.5% respectively.

In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Ajay Kapoor beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Vivek Sheel Shukla (Beenu Shukla) by 2,027 votes.
