Kursi is the assembly constituency which comes under the Barabanki district. It is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 for Kursi will be held on February 27 and the result was declared on March 10.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2017, there were 3,74,651 registered voters for Kursi assembly seat, out of which 2,01,339 were male and 1,73,312 were female voters. 0.4% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Kursi constituency had 15 candidates for assembly seat contention. Kursi was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Sakendra Pratap Verma won the election by upstaging Samajwadi Party's Fareed Mahfooz Kidwai by a margin of 28,679 votes.
91.6% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Sakendra Pratap Verma grabbed a total of 1,08,403 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Fareed Mahfooz Kidwai got 79,724 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate V.P.Singh Verma bagged 51,091 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 41.5%, 30.5% and 19.6% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Fareed Mahfooj Kidwai beat Bahujan Samaj Party's Kumari Meeta Gautam by 23,937 votes.
