Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajnikant Mani Tripathi grabbed a total of 97,132 votes, while Bahujan Samaj Party's Rajesh Pratap Rav Alias Banti Bhaiya got 49,029 votes. Samajwadi Party's candidate Brahmashankar Tripathi bagged 46,369 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 48.2%, 24.4% and 23.0% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Bramhashankar Tripathi defeated Bahujan Samaj Party's Jawed Iqbal by 23,688 votes.
