Machhlishahr S.C. is the assembly constituency which comes under the Jaunpur district. It is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 for Machhlishahr S.C. will be held on March 7 and the result was declared on March 10.
Machhlishahr S.C. assembly constituency had 3,65,135 electors in 2017, out of which 1,95,128 were male voters and 1,70,007 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.6% votes.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Machhlishahr S.C. constituency had 14 candidates for assembly seat contention. Machhlishahr S.C. was one of 47 seats won by the Samajwadi Party. It was a close contest with Samajwadi Party's Jagdish Sonkar winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Anita Rawat by a margin of just 4,179 votes.
93.8% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Samajwadi Party's Jagdish Sonkar grabbed a total of 72,368 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Anita Rawat got 68,189 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Sushila Saroj bagged 52,796 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 35.1%, 33.1% and 25.6% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Jagdish Sonkar beat Bahujan Samaj Party's Rampher Gautam by 24,425 votes.
