Bharatiya Janata Party's Dara Singh Chauhan grabbed a total of 86,238 votes, while Indian National Congress's Amresh Chand got 56,823 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Umesh Pandey bagged 54,803 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 40.4%, 26.6% and 25.7% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Umesh Pandey outperformed Samajwadi Party's Rajendra Mishra by 1,356 votes.
