Mahasi is the assembly constituency which comes under the Bahraich district. It is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 for Mahasi was held on February 27 and the results was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Mahasi assembly seat had 3,22,791 registered voters. Of the, 1,72,776 were male and 1,50,015 were female voters. 1.0% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Mahasi constituency had 10 candidates for assembly seat contention. Total 312 seats were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Mahasi was one of them. The election for Mahasi seat was comfortably won by Bharatiya Janata Party's Sureshwar Singh defeating Indian National Congress's Ali Akbar by a huge margin of 58,969 votes.
95.4% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Sureshwar Singh grabbed a total of 1,04,654 votes, while Indian National Congress's Ali Akbar got 45,685 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Krishna Kumar Ojha bagged 34,685 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 54.0%, 23.6% and 17.9% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Krishna Kumar Ojha outperformed Bharatiya Janata Party's Sureshwar Singh by 2,489 votes.
