Bharatiya Janata Party's Rakesh Kumar Goswami won the election by upstaging Samajwadi Party's Siddh Gopal Sahu by a margin of 31,387 votes.
96.2% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Rakesh Kumar Goswami grabbed a total of 88,291 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Siddh Gopal Sahu got 56,904 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Arimardan Singh bagged 41,915 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 45.4%, 29.2% and 21.5% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Rajnarain Alias Rajju beat Samajwadi Party's Siddhgopal Sahu by 354 votes.
