Bahujan Samaj Party's Mukhtar Anshari got a total of 96,793 votes, while Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party's Mahendra Rajbhar secured 88,095 votes. Samajwadi Party's candidate Altaf Ansari grabbed the third spot with 72,016 votes. The top three parties got 36.6%, 33.3% and 27.2% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Quami Ekta Dal's Mukhtar Ansari outperformed Bahujan Samaj Party's Bheem Rajbhar by 5,904 votes.
