In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 10 candidates in the fray from Meerganj constituency. Meerganj was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a one way contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. D.C. Verma comfortably winning the election upstaging Bahujan Samaj Party's Sultan Beg by a huge margin of 54,500 votes.
95.9% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. D.C. Verma grabbed a total of 1,08,789 votes, while Bahujan Samaj Party's Sultan Beg got 54,289 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Narendra Pal Singh bagged 36,938 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 52.2%, 26.0% and 17.7% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Sultan Baig outperformed Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr.D.C Verma by 7,921 votes.
