In 2017, the Meja assembly seat had 3,10,761 registered voters. Of the, 1,71,509 were male and 1,39,252 were female voters. 0.8% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 15 candidates in the fray from Meja constituency. Meja was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Neelam Karwariya won the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Ram Sewak Singh by a margin of 19,843 votes.
89.7% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Neelam Karwariya grabbed a total of 67,807 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Ram Sewak Singh got 47,964 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Surendra bagged 44,622 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 37.9%, 26.8% and 25.0% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Girish Chandra Alias Gama Pandey outperformed Bahujan Samaj Party's Anand Kumar Alias Collector Pandey by 740 votes.
