In 2017, the Muradnagar assembly seat had 4,19,239 registered voters. Of the, 2,28,693 were male and 1,90,546 were female voters. 0.2% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 14 candidates in the fray from Muradnagar constituency. Muradnagar was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a one way contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Ajit Pal Tyagi comfortably winning the election upstaging Bahujan Samaj Party's Sudhan Kumar by a huge margin of 89,612 votes.
The top three candidates split 95.8% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Ajit Pal Tyagi got a total of 1,40,759 votes, while Bahujan Samaj Party's Sudhan Kumar secured 51,147 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Surender Prakash grabbed the third spot with 49,989 votes. The top three parties got 55.8%, 20.3% and 19.8% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Wahab beat Samajwadi Party's Rajpal Tyagi by 3,622 votes.
