Muzaffar Nagar is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Muzaffarnagar district. People of Muzaffar Nagar voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 10 and the results was declared on March 10.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2017, there were 3,34,307 registered voters for Muzaffar Nagar assembly seat, out of which 1,81,616 were male and 1,52,691 were female voters. 0.3% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In 2017, 16 candidates were contesting for Muzaffar Nagar assembly constituency seat. Muzaffar Nagar was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Kapil Dev Agarwal winning the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Gaurav Swarup Bansal by a margin of just 10,704 votes.
86.2% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Kapil Dev Agarwal got a total of 97,838 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Gaurav Swarup Bansal got 87,134 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Rakesh Kumar Sharma grabbed 21,038 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 45.6%, 40.6% and 9.8% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Chitranjan Swaroop beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Ashok Kansal by 15,002 votes.
