In Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2017, there were 3,98,721 registered voters for Paniyara assembly seat, out of which 2,16,242 were male and 1,82,479 were female voters. 0.5% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Paniyara constituency had 14 candidates for assembly seat contention. Total 312 seats were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Paniyara was one of them. The election for Paniyara seat was comfortably won by Bharatiya Janata Party's Gyanendra defeating Bahujan Samaj Party's Ganesh Shanker Pandey by a huge margin of 67,491 votes.
90.6% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Gyanendra grabbed a total of 1,19,308 votes, while Bahujan Samaj Party's Ganesh Shanker Pandey got 51,817 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Talat Aziz bagged 48,004 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 49.3%, 21.4% and 19.9% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Deo Narayan Urf G.M. Singh defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's Gyanendra by 4,083 votes.
