Phoolpur Pawai comes under the Azamgarh district and it is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Phoolpur Pawai voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on March 7 and the result was declared on March 10.
Phoolpur Pawai assembly constituency had 3,04,949 electors in 2017, out of which 1,67,027 were male voters and 1,37,922 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.5% votes.
In 2017, 13 candidates were contesting for Phoolpur Pawai assembly constituency seat. Phoolpur Pawai was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Arun Kumar Yadav winning the election upstaging Bahujan Samaj Party's Abul Qais Azmi by a margin of just 7,295 votes.
The top three candidates split 94.8% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Arun Kumar Yadav got a total of 68,435 votes, while Bahujan Samaj Party's Abul Qais Azmi secured 61,140 votes. Samajwadi Party's candidate Shyam Bahadur Singh Yadav grabbed the third spot with 38,099 votes. The top three parties got 38.7%, 34.6% and 21.5% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Shyam Bahadur Singh Yadav outperformed Bahujan Samaj Party's Abul Kais Azami by 865 votes.
