Rasara assembly constituency had 3,35,642 electors in 2017, out of which 1,84,844 were male voters and 1,50,798 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.5% votes.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Rasara constituency had 11 candidates for assembly seat contention. Rasara was one of 19 seats won by the Bahujan Samaj Party. Bahujan Samaj Party's Uma Shanker Singh won the election by upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Ram Iqball Singh by a margin of 33,887 votes.
97.9% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bahujan Samaj Party's Uma Shanker Singh grabbed a total of 92,272 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Ram Iqball Singh got 58,385 votes. Samajwadi Party's candidate Sanatan Pandey bagged 37,006 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 48.2%, 30.5% and 19.3% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Umashankar outperformed Samajwadi Party's Sanatan by 52,825 votes.
