Sahajanwa is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Gorakhpur district. Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 for Sahajanwa will be held on March 3 and the result was declared on March 10.
Sahajanwa assembly constituency had 3,56,147 electors in 2017, out of which 1,97,872 were male voters and 1,58,275 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.5% votes.
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 12 candidates in the fray from Sahajanwa constituency. Sahajanwa was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Sheetal Pandey won the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Yaspal Singh Rawat by a margin of 15,377 votes.
The top three candidates split 88.2% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Sheetal Pandey got a total of 72,213 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Yaspal Singh Rawat secured 56,836 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Devnarayan Singh Urf G.M. Singh grabbed the third spot with 54,143 votes. The top three parties got 34.8%, 27.4% and 26.1% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Rajendra beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Ashwani by 12,691 votes.
