The top three candidates split 89.6% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Gyan Tiwari got a total of 94,697 votes, while Bahujan Samaj Party's Engineer Mohammad Nasim secured 51,038 votes. Samajwadi Party's candidate Shiv Kumar Gupta grabbed the third spot with 43,488 votes. The top three parties got 44.9%, 24.2% and 20.6% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Mahendra Kumar Singh defeated Indian National Congress's Ammar Rizvi by 2,447 votes.
