Shahabad is the assembly constituency which comes under the Hardoi district. It is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 for Shahabad will be held on February 23 and the result was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Shahabad assembly seat had 3,43,834 registered voters. Of the, 1,84,916 were male and 1,58,918 were female voters. 0.8% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Shahabad constituency had 14 candidates for assembly seat contention. Shahabad was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajani Tiwari winning the election upstaging Bahujan Samaj Party's Asif Khan by a margin of just 4,260 votes.
The top two candidates split 89.7% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajani Tiwari got a total of 99,624 votes, while Bahujan Samaj Party's Asif Khan secured 95,364 votes. Samajwadi Party's candidate Sartaj Khan secured 15,767 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 45.8%, 43.9% and 7.3% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Babu Khan defeated Bahujan Samaj Party's Asif Khan by 11,134 votes.
