Bharatiya Janata Party's Suresh Kumar Khanna won the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Tanveer Khan by a margin of 19,203 votes.
89.0% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Suresh Kumar Khanna got a total of 1,00,734 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Tanveer Khan got 81,531 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Mohammad Aslam Khan grabbed 16,546 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 49.2%, 39.8% and 8.1% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Suresh Kumar Khanna outperformed Samajwadi Party's Tanveer Khan by 16,178 votes.
