Shivpal may be made leader of opposition
Shivpal Yadav, president of the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia (PSP-L), said he would accept whatever responsibility the Samajwadi Party (SP) gave him.
Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia (PSP-L) president Shivpal Yadav on Saturday said he would shoulder whatever responsibility the Samajwadi Party (SP) gave him.

He made this comment to newspersons in Lucknow over speculation that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav could make him the leader of the opposition in UP assembly.
Shivpal and his nephew Akhilesh had estranged relations for long and their patch-up happened before the UP assembly elections.
In the 17th (2017-2022) UP assembly, Samajwadi Party’s Ram Gobind Chaudhary was the leader of the opposition, but he lost this election from his Bansdih seat in Ballia this time.
Talking about the election results, Shivpal said there was a favourable outlook of the public towards the SP. “Maybe, a few minor shortcomings may have been there. We will introspect and overcome those shortcomings. We will not sit quiet. We will be seen among the people,” he said.
He said “the opposition has become stronger this time after the SP’s vote share went up significantly.”
