In 2017, 15 candidates were contesting for Sikandra Rao assembly constituency seat. Sikandra Rao was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Birendra Singh Rana won the election by defeating Bahujan Samaj Party's Bani Singh Baghel by a margin of 14,772 votes.
The top three candidates split 91.8% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Birendra Singh Rana got a total of 76,129 votes, while Bahujan Samaj Party's Bani Singh Baghel secured 61,357 votes. Samajwadi Party's candidate Yashpal Singh Chauhan grabbed the third spot with 59,740 votes. The top three parties got 35.4%, 28.6% and 27.8% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Ramveer Upadhyay outperformed Samajwadi Party's Yashpal Singh Chauhan by 1,063 votes.
