Sishamau comes under the Kanpur Nagar district and it is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Sishamau voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.
Sishamau assembly constituency had 2,72,289 electors in 2017, out of which 1,49,543 were male voters and 1,22,746 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.3% votes.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Sishamau constituency had 9 candidates for assembly seat contention. Sishamau was one of 47 seats won by the Samajwadi Party. It was a close contest with Samajwadi Party's Hazi Irfan Solanki winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Suresh Awasthi by a margin of just 5,826 votes.
The top two candidates split 91.4% of votes between them. Samajwadi Party's Hazi Irfan Solanki got a total of 73,030 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Suresh Awasthi secured 67,204 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Nand Lal Kori secured 11,949 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 47.6%, 43.8% and 7.8% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Haji Irfan Solanki outperformed Bharatiya Janata Party's Hanuman Swarup Mishra by 19,663 votes.
