Tulsipur assembly constituency had 3,67,401 electors in 2017, out of which 2,02,239 were male voters and 1,65,162 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.7% votes.
In 2017, 15 candidates were contesting for Tulsipur assembly constituency seat. Tulsipur was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Kailash Nath Shukla won the election by defeating Indian National Congress's Zeba Rizwan by a margin of 18,659 votes.
73.1% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Kailash Nath Shukla grabbed a total of 62,296 votes, while Indian National Congress's Zeba Rizwan got 43,637 votes. Samajwadi Party's candidate Abdul Mashhood Khan Masood bagged 36,549 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 31.9%, 22.4% and 18.7% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Abdul Mashhood Khan defeated Bahujan Samaj Party's Salman Zaheer by 33,710 votes.
