Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr Harendra Prasad Singh grabbed a total of 85,989 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Shachindra Nath Tripathi got 61,124 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Sanjiv Kuamr Upadhyay bagged 45,490 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 41.9%, 29.8% and 22.2% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Sachindra Nath Tripathi outperformed Bahujan Samaj Party's Jagdish Narayan by 5,417 votes.
