It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Pritam Singh winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Madhu Chauhan by a margin of just 1,543 votes.
The top two candidates split 95.7% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Pritam Singh got a total of 34,968 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Madhu Chauhan secured 33,425 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Daulat Kunwar secured 2,375 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 48.9%, 46.8% and 3.3% respectively.
