Kapkot comes under the Bageshwar district and it is one of the 70 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Kapkot voted for Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022 on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.

Bharatiya Janata Party's Balwant Singh Bhouriyal grabbed a total of 27,213 votes, while Indian National Congress's Lalit Farswan got 21,231 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Bhoopesh Upadhyay bagged 6,964 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 46.4%, 36.2% and 11.9% respectively.
