Laksar is the assembly constituency which comes under the Hardwar district. It is one of the 70 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022 for Laksar was held on February 14 and the results was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Laksar assembly seat had 95,258 registered voters. Of the, 51,282 were male and 43,976 were female voters. 0.3% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Laksar constituency had 10 candidates for assembly seat contention. Laksar was one of 57 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Sanjay Gupta winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Haji Tasleem Ahmad by a margin of just 1,604 votes.
88.1% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Sanjay Gupta grabbed a total of 25,248 votes, while Indian National Congress's Haji Tasleem Ahmad got 23,644 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Subhash Singh Choudhary bagged 19,656 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 32.5%, 30.4% and 25.3% respectively.
In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Sanjay Gupta beat Bahujan Samaj Party's Haji Taslim Ahmed by 10,394 votes.
