Lohaghat comes under the Champawat district and it is one of the 70 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Lohaghat voted for Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022 on February 14 and the results was declared on March 10.
In Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2017, there were 1,02,118 registered voters for Lohaghat assembly seat, out of which 53,909 were male and 48,209 were female voters. 1.2% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the 2017 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Election, there were 6 candidates in the fray from Lohaghat constituency. Lohaghat was one of 57 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was an extremely close fight, with Bharatiya Janata Party's Puran Singh Fartyal narrowly winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Khushal Singh by a slim margin of 148 votes.
The top two candidates split 95.5% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Puran Singh Fartyal got a total of 26,468 votes, while Indian National Congress's Khushal Singh secured 26,320 votes. Independent candidate Jyoti Prakash Tamta secured 710 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 47.9%, 47.6% and 1.3% respectively.
