92.7% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. Prem Singh got a total of 42,785 votes, while Indian National Congress's Gopal Singh Rana got 33,254 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Shish Ram Rana grabbed 3,174 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 52.2%, 40.5% and 3.9% respectively.
In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Prem Singh outperformed Indian National Congress's Gopal Singh Rana by 5,631 votes.
