Raipur comes under the Dehradun district and it is one of the 70 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Raipur voted for Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022 on February 14 and the results was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Raipur assembly seat had 1,64,587 registered voters. Of the, 87,197 were male and 77,390 were female voters. 0.3% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Raipur constituency had 19 candidates for assembly seat contention. Total 57 seats were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Raipur was one of them. The election for Raipur seat was comfortably won by Bharatiya Janata Party's Umesh Sharma Kau defeating Indian National Congress's Prabhu Lal by a huge margin of 36,771 votes.
The top two candidates split 84.6% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Umesh Sharma Kau got a total of 59,764 votes, while Indian National Congress's Prabhu Lal secured 22,993 votes. Independent candidate Rajni Rawat secured 7,569 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 61.1%, 23.5% and 7.7% respectively.
In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Umesh Sharma (KAU) beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Trivendra Singh Rawat by 474 votes.
