Bharatiya Janata Party's Diwan Singh Bisht got a total of 35,839 votes, while Indian National Congress's Ranjeet Rawat secured 27,228 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Rajeev Agarwal grabbed the third spot with 10,766 votes. The top three parties got 46.8%, 35.6% and 14.1% respectively.
In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Amrita Rawat outperformed Bharatiya Janata Party's Diwan Singh by 3,729 votes.
