Sahaspur comes under the Dehradun district and it is one of the 70 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Sahaspur voted for Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022 on February 14 and the results was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Sahaspur assembly seat had 1,49,261 registered voters. Of the, 78,312 were male and 70,949 were female voters. 0.5% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In 2017, 14 candidates were contesting for Sahaspur assembly constituency seat. Sahaspur was one of 57 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Sahdev Singh Pundir won the election by defeating Indian National Congress's Kishore Upadhaya by a margin of 18,863 votes.
The top three candidates split 84.3% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Sahdev Singh Pundir secured a total of 44,055 votes, while Indian National Congress's Kishore Upadhaya got 25,192 votes. Independent candidate Aryendra Sharma bagged 21,888 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 40.8%, 23.3% and 20.2% respectively.
In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Sahdev Singh Pundir outperformed Indian National Congress's Aryendra Sharma by 5,490 votes.
