Salt is the assembly constituency which comes under the Almora district. It is one of the 70 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022 for Salt was held on February 14 and the results was declared on March 10.
Salt assembly constituency had 95,621 electors in 2017, out of which 48,688 were male voters and 46,933 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.8% votes.
In the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Salt constituency had 10 candidates for assembly seat contention. Salt was one of 57 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Surender Singh Jeena won the election by upstaging Indian National Congress's Ganga Pancholi by a margin of 2,904 votes.
93.4% of votes were split between top 2 candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Surender Singh Jeena secured a total of 21,581 votes, while Indian National Congress's Ganga Pancholi got 18,677 votes. Independent candidate Bhuvan Joshi grabbed 669 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 50.1%, 43.4% and 1.6% respectively.
In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Surendra Singh Jeena outperformed Indian National Congress's Ranjeet Rawat by 5,444 votes.
