89.0% of votes were split between top 2 candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat secured a total of 30,816 votes, while Indian National Congress's Ganesh Godiyal got 22,118 votes. Independent candidate Mohan Prasad Kala grabbed 4,854 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 51.8%, 37.2% and 8.2% respectively.
In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Ganesh Godiyal beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr Dhan Singh Rawat by 5,063 votes.
