Yamkeshwar is one of the 70 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Garhwal district. People of Yamkeshwar voted for Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022 on February 14 and the results was declared on March 10.
In Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2017, there were 86,814 registered voters for Yamkeshwar assembly seat, out of which 46,243 were male and 40,571 were female voters. 1.1% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In 2017, 8 candidates were competing for Yamkeshwar assembly constituency seat. Yamkeshwar was one of 57 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a one way contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Ritu Khanduri Bhushan comfortably winning the election defeating independent candidate Renu Bisht by a huge margin of 8,982 votes.
90.8% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Ritu Khanduri Bhushan grabbed a total of 19,671 votes, while independent candidate Renu Bisht got 10,689 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Shailendra Singh Rawat bagged 10,283 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 44.0%, 23.9% and 23.0% respectively.
In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Vijay Brathwal outperformed Indian National Congress's Sarojani Devi by 3,541 votes.
