Actor Huma Qureshi, who forayed into Bollywood with Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur (GOW), is tired of reports linking her up with Kashyap. She jokingly puts the rumours of a love triangle between her, Kashyap and his wife Kalki Koechlin to rest, saying, “Oh, me and Kalki are in a relationship. I think that should put a stop to all the rumours.”
Talking about GOW, Huma says her character in the film led people to think that she is not an urban girl. “After Gangs, people thought that I couldn’t speak a sentence in English or that I don’t wear jeans or, you know, I am a city girl,” she says, adding that her upcoming film Ek Thi Dayan will help break that image of hers. “In this film I play Tamara, who is living in Mumbai and has a boyfriend. She lives alone, can speak in English. So this role, which funnily I got before Gangs of Wasseypur, will help me overcome that image,” she says.
Huma, who was in the Capital last week to promote the film, also mentions how happy she felt after she recei-ved a text from filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj. “One day I got Vishal ji’s text and he complimented me for my work. I was over the moon after that. To receive a compliment about one’s own work is good but to get a compliment from a genius like him, you can imagine how I would have felt”, she says.
