Shilpa and her husband Raj Kundra are co-owners of the T20 cricket team, Rajasthan Royals, and Kundra was on Wednesday morning quizzed by the special cell of Delhi Police in association with the spot-fixing scandal. Till the time of going to press, the actor remained unavailable for comment on the matter.

In an interview earlier this week in the city, however, Shilpa had evaded questions around the controversy. “We treat the team like our family. Obviously we are shocked, but as a franchise I can assure you that we will get to the bottom of this and clear everything out,” she had said.
She seemed quite keen to comment on another controversy though — the Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s new proposal to ban mannequins that showcase lingerie, citing this as a cause for crime against women. “Are they (the law enforcers) the same people who held a dharna outside my house when (Hollywood star) Richard Gere kissed me?” said Shilpa, adding, “How will this (law) prevent a man from raping a five-year-old girl? It all depends on the value system. You teach people to respect women. These laws will be meaningful only when there is a basic value system instilled.”
