I have a rather similar reaction to victory and “defeat”, for want of another word. I did not win this last competition and there is a lot of soul searching and self depreciation that accompanies the outcome. Ironically, I am no different when I win! Even in victory, one does ask oneself if they can do this every time? There is always an emotional meltdown at some level within oneself and I take my time to come out of it. I wonder what its like for my fellow columnists.

Bollywood works pretty much on the same criteria? Do they approach their performances with the same in-built apathy? A successful box office can be pressure, too, the next time a movie releases! I guess its the same formula for everyone.

That said, I have been following the news quite closely. The CWG seem to be in the eye of the storm. I only hope things settle down. Then there’s Kashmir... watching the scenario makes one realise how convoluted and mind shattering these real issues are.Such things make one realise how irrelevant one’s personal highs and lows are.
