Ajith asks fans to not address him as ‘Thala’: ‘I wish to be referred to as…’
For close to two decades, Ajith has been addressed with the title ‘Thala’ by his fans.
Tamil actor Ajith Kumar, who is fondly referred to as ‘Thala’ by his fans, has released a statement in which he urged everyone, including the media, to refer to him by his name and not by any moniker.
For close to two decades, Ajith has been addressed with the title ‘Thala’ by his fans, which is a tag used for someone who is revered as a leader.
In his statement shared in a tweet, Ajith requested fans to stop adding any prefix to his name and simply address him as Ajith, Ajith Kumar or just the abbreviation of his name AK.
"I henceforth wish to be referred to as Ajith, Ajith Kumar or Just AK and not as ‘Thala’ or any other prefix before my name. I sincerely wish you all to have a beautiful life filled with good health, happiness, success, peace of mind and contentment forever. Love, Ajith," read his statement.
Ajith currently awaits the release of his upcoming Tamil action-thriller Valimai. Directed by H Vinoth, the film stars Huma Qureshi as the leading lady. The film is being produced by Boney Kapoor, who has reunited with Ajith after Nerkonda Paarvai. The film stars Karthikeya as the antagonist.
In February this year, Ajith suffered an injury while shooting a bike sequence. He was briefly out of action.

Originally planned as a big release for Diwali last year, the project will hit screens next year during Pongal festival. Meanwhile, reports have emerged that Ajith will team up with filmmaker Sudha Kongara next for a yet-untitled Tamil project.
