Allu Arjun addresses Sandhya Theatre tragedy
Dressed in a white t-shirt that proudly proclaimed his title 'Icon Star', Arjun addressed the media on the lawns of his house. Talking about the death of the fan in the stampede at Sandhya Theatre on December 4, he said, "We're extremely sorry for the family, and I will personally be there to support them in whatever way. It's purely accidental."
Arjun reiterated that he was inside the theatre and the accident took place outside. "I was inside the theatre watching a movie with my family, and the accident happened outside. It is truly of no direct connection to me, truly accidental, purely unintentional. My love is with the family, and I'll be there in whatever way possible," he added,
The actor said that he has been to Sandhya Theatre 30 times in the last two decades, and such an incident has never occurred before. He said, "I've been coming to the same theater for the last 20 years, and I've been to the same place more than 30 times, and never any accident has happened. It's truly unfortunate. It was an accident, and we're extremely sorry for what has happened. But it was totally out of control."
The case against Allu Arjun
Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday in connection with the death of a woman in a stampede during the premiere of his blockbuster Pushpa 2: The Rule. The actor had arrived at Sandhya Theatre with the film's female lead, Rashmika Mandanna, and his wife, Sneha Reddy. A crowd gathered to catch his glimpse, and that led to a stampede. A complaint was filed by the deceased's family, naming Arjun as one of the accused. Upon his arrest on Friday, the actor was first sent to 14-day judicial custody by a local court in Hyderabad and then granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court. He eventually walked out of the jail on Saturday morning.
