From Vishwak Sen’s Das Ka Dhamki to Krishna Vamsi’s Rangamarthanda, here's what fans can watch in theatres this week.

Telugu cinema fans, who have been jubilant over the last few weeks courtesy of the international acclaim for RRR, can look forward to six new films to watch this week on the big screen. From Vishwak Sen’s Das Ka Dhamki to Krishna Vamsi’s highly anticipated Rangamarthanda, fans get to choose between a family drama as well as a horror thriller.

Das Ka Dhamki

Vishwak Sen’s Das Ka Dhamki, which hit the screens on Wednesday on the occasion of the Ugadi festival, is an action comedy centred on two doppelgangers, both played by Vishwak. With this project, Vishwak returns to direction four years after the release of Falaknuma Das. This film also stars Nivetha Pethuraj.


Rangamarthanda, a Telugu remake of the Marathi hit Natsamrat, features Prakash Raj as the central character which was originally essayed by Nana Patekar. The film focuses on the life of a veteran theatre actor and how he grapples with reality. One of the major highlights of the movie is said to be a character played by Brahmanandam, who has always played comics in his long-spanning career. This time, he’s played a serious role and it’s said to be one of his best performances. Directed by Krishna Vamsi, the film also stars Ramya Krishnan and Anasuya Bharadwaj in key roles. The film has released on Wednesday.

Katha Venuka Katha

Directed by Krishna Chaitanya and starring Viswanth Duddumpudi, and Srijitha Ghosh as the female lead, Katha Venuka Katha is a drama thriller which gears up for release on Friday. The film also stars Subha Sri, Ali, Sunil and Banerji while music has been composed by Shravan Bharadwaj.


Khosty is the Telugu dubbed version of the Tamil film of the same name. Starring Kajal Aggarwal in the central character, the film is a horror comedy with a battalion of supporting cast and comedians. The film, which releases on Wednesday, features Kajal in the role of a cop and it happens to be first release since she became a mother.

Geetha Sakshiga

Geetha Sakshiga, a multi-lingual thriller drama, is written and directed by Anthony Mattipalli. It stars Aadarsh, Chitra Sukla, Srikanth Iyengar and Roopesh Shetty in important roles. The film releases in cinemas on Wednesday.


1992, an independently funded film, tells the story of a young romantic couple. The film features a cast full of newcomers. It has been directed by Shiva Palamuru and releases on Friday. The film’s story is set in a town called Peddapuram where love marriages are completely not encouraged.
