Naga Chaitanya, Sobhita Dhulipala engagement this afternoon: Exclusive details from ceremony
Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala are all set to hard launch their relationship with their engagement ceremony on Thursday.
Actors Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala are due to get engaged on Thursday afternoon at a private ceremony in Hyderabad, people familiar with the matter told HT. (Also read: Are Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala getting engaged today? Here's what we know)
A ‘private’ ceremony
The ceremony will be a “very private and intimate one” and will take place at the home of Chaitanya’s father, actor Nagarjuna, in the afternoon, said one of the persons.
Chaitanya, or Chay as he is called, a Telugu actor, and Bollywood actor Dhulipala have been dating since 2022 but the two have kept the romance under wraps.
Who's invited?
Nagarjuna’s wife Amala Akkineni, and Akhil, Chaitanya’s brother, will be present along with Dhulipala’s parents at the engagement ceremony, according to the people cited above. They did not want to be identified.
Nagarjuna and family reside in a luxurious home in the upscale location of Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad. The house is a landmark for Telugu movie fans, who mill around it in the same way Bollywood fans throng Shah Rukh Khan's home in Mumbai’s Bandra.
Fans can be seen outside the Jubilee Hills home, which is spread over more than 4,000 sq feet, to catch a glimpse of the star every day.
Nagarjuna will likely share the news of the engagement on social media, said the person cited above, who is close to Chaitanya.
A person close to Geetha Arts, the production house behind Thandel, in which Chaitanya is starring, told HT that the shooting for the movie has been cancelled for August 8. Shooting for Thandel, which stars Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, is underway in Hyderabad.
Chaitanya is expected to rejoin the Thandel shoot on Friday.
Chaitanya was previously married to actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
Chay and Sobhita's relationship timeline
The relationship between Dhulipala, 32, and Chaitanya, 37, has the blessings of the two families. Nagarjuna praised his future daughter-in-law at a recent movie event. “She was so good (in the film). I mean, I should not say it like this but she was hot in the film. There is something that’s so attractive about her,” he said.

Chaitanya and Dhulipala are expected to tie the knot later in 2024. Fans can look forward to seeing images of the engagement on social media.
The actors began dating in 2022. Fans first caught a whiff of their relationship from a Reddit thread, which contained blurry photographs of the two together at Chef Surender Mohan’s restaurant in London. The couple have taken pains to keep their relationship secret but separate images posted of themselves at the same locations on their social media fuelled rumours.
The couple are said to have bonded over a common love for Formula 1. There were also photos that emerged on social media of the couple at a wine tasting event in Europe.
Both actors have been repeatedly asked about the dating rumours, but chose not to reply, except with a smile.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been busy promoting her series Citadel with Varun Dhawan. Ruth Prabhu and Chaitanya married on October 6 at Goa in 2017. The marriage ended in October 2021, when they announced that they were parting ways.
