Abhinav Bindra wonders if the construction in Delhi will be completed in time for the Commonwealth Games. Read on.

I am currently training for the World Championship in Switzerland — the land of clockwork precision. May I add that I am clearly committed to my HT readers; I have had to message this piece because of the lack of connectivity in this beautiful but remote locale!

This peace and quiet is at odds with the chaos that was Delhi when I flew out! In fact, the journey to the airport was one stop short of being traumatic! The traffic was grid-locked for hours and some places looked like they had been bombed!

I think the Commonwealth Games should be held in our spanking new Terminal Three, because there seems little hope of the authorities getting their act together by October. The CM, a lady I admire for her courage, has had to resort to giving deadlines just to clear

. By this point, the sanguine will definitely say, ‘Houston there is a problem!’

South Africa gave us such a brilliant Wak(e)a Wak(e)a up call! The FIFA World-Cup exceeded all expectations... We must follow suit! As an athlete and a very proud Indian, I am anxious. This is NOT just my regular neurosis! I worry... and hope there shall be accountability eventually!

The OC was looking to hire 18 press release supervisors, perhaps we shall soon get the low down on how things will unfold. I have memories of Sydney and Beijing during the Olympics, which I have already shared with you. The effort, the sheer national pride and joy of an event well-done was evident for all to see.

Even the much criticised ‘Own the Podium’ by Canada which held the Winter Olympics had an element of competition that we still seem to lack. What if it rains in October? Will the entire political establishment be reduced to being drain-inspectors?

I will soon be in the land of Paul the Pundit and I shall definitely pay him a visit. Bring in the sooth-sayers when all else fails. After all, we are Indians!
