Waterlog can be seen everywhere so it is time the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) should find a solution to this problem or outsource the job to other.

Heavy rains lashed Gurgaon on Thursday again forcing city police to issue an alert asking people to drive carefully as reports of congestion poured in from several parts of the corporate hub.

On Wednesday, showers brought Gurgaon to a standstill during the morning rush hour as waterlogged roads led to snarls on almost all major routes, including the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.

“It is again raining in Gurgaon, visibility is poor. Please drive carefully, switch on the headlights, and maintain lane discipline,” Gurgaon Police tweeted.

By 9.30am heavy congestion was reported on Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway from Ambience Mall to the Airtel building on the other side of the highway. Slight waterlog and traffic snarls were also reported at Sector 31 and Jharsa cut.

Traffic at Rajiv Chowk and Hero Honda Chowk was also affected due to the intense rain. Traffic slowed down on Sohna Road as well but there was no jam was reported on these junctions.

Police and district authorities said that they are keeping a close watch on the situation, and like Wednesday adequate manpower has been deployed at key locations to prevent traffic snarls and gridlocks.

“I left for office early as the sky was full of clouds and reached office safely. But people should avoid getting caught on the roads now. Rain in full mood,” wrote Surender Sindu on Facebook.

Another Gurgaon resident said that waterlogging can be seen everywhere so it is time the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) should find a solution to this problem or outsource the job to other.

“A boat company should start operating a service in the monsoon season. The business would be good,” Neha, a resident of Uniworld City, said.

HUDA officials said that they are keeping a watch on Badshahpur drain to ensure the highway is not waterlogged.

Heavy showers on Wednesday morning inundated vast swathes of the national capital region and brought back memories of a similar deluge last month when thousands of commuters were stuck for 12 hours in miles-long snarls.

Commuters on their way to NCR towns of Gurgaon, Noida and Ghaziabad were stuck in snarls for hours on National Highway 8 and 24 as the rain showed no signs of abating.

In Gurgaon, traffic ground to a halt as cars piled up on both carriageways of the Delhi-Gurgaon NH 8 and important intersections such as Hero Honda Chowk went under water, for the second time in two months.

On July 28, heavy showers across Delhi and Gurgaon triggered miles-long snarls with cars and trucks, ambulances and school buses backed up for up to 24 hours in a hair-pulling drive home. Many were seen abandoning their cars and wading through knee-deep water.
