Residents of Sector 59, particularly those living in Tata Raisina Residency condominium, are suffering because of the lack of an access road.

With the condominium located four kilometres off the Golf Course Road, residents complain that they have to use a kilometre long revenue road of neighbouring Behrampur village, which does not have adequate streetlights and has a number of illegal shops, to get to the main road.

They said despite promises by the government, no action has been taken.

Tata Raisina Residency that spreads across 12 acres is a mix of upscale apartments (3BHK-4BHK-5BHK) and penthouses. There are 336 apartments in the condominium and 175 apartments are occupied since 2013.

The problem of the access road, residents said, can be resolved if a small patch of 100 metres is widened, and connected with a 24-metre road on the rear entrance of the complex. However, none of the
stakeholders are ready to do this.

Because of the remote location and poor access, private cabs, schoolbuses, and shared autos refuse to go to the condominium. Women feel unsafe moving through the village even in their private vehicles after sundown.

“There is a strong sense of insecurity felt by all women who are compelled to take the village road. The danger gets accentuated after dark, particularly since it is the only road in this area that is devoid of lighting, and consists of a narrow track full of potholes and speed breakers. This makes escaping the area incase of an emergency difficult. This constricted road also has a liquor shop, a butcher and is prone to being blocked by cattle with the added menace of water tankers parked on it round the clock. We are not sure how government allows to build residential complex and gives occupation certificate when basic infrastructure such as road is not available,” Leena Sarkar Ali of Tata Raisina Residency said.

Many times, guests try avoid visiting the complex and people prefer to meet us in restaurants or clubs in Gurgaon because of the location and distance of the condominium, another resident said.

Another problem area is that because the lack of Haryana Urban Developement Authority connection (Huda) sewerage connection, the treated sewage is discharged into nearby fields, emanating foul smell and polluting the area.

“My husband moved on an assignment overseas and I am a working woman living alone here. Every day, I am forced to negotiate a broken and unsafe road to reach home. Authorities need to find a solution,”
Chitralekha of Tata Raisina Residency said.

Huda administrator Yashapal Yadav said development of infrastructure is a priority in sectors 58 to 66. “We are building roads on priority in these sectors and if building the raod concerned comes under our domain, we will look into the issue at the earliest,” Yadav said
