Arun Jaitley was in the isolation ward at AIIMS after his kidney transplant.

Union minister Arun Jaitley returned home on Monday after a successful kidney transplant at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He is expected to start working from home within the fortnight and be back in the ministry by mid-July.

Jaitley, 65, tweeted about returning home and expressed his gratitude to his doctors, paramedics and well-wishers.

”Delighted to be back at home. My gratitude to the Doctors, Nursing officers and paramedics who looked after me for over the past three weeks,” Jaitley tweeted.

Jaitley was allowed to return home nearly three weeks after his kidney transplant, which took place on May 14. Doctors from AIIMS will visit him at home and monitor his condition.

Except for a hiatus of 18 days on Twitter, between May 8 and May 26, Jaitley has been active on the social media platform throughout. He also wrote a blog post on four years of the Narendra Modi government.

Jaitley first mentioned his condition through a tweet on April 5 and said he was being treated for “kidney-related problems”.
