Erode bypoll election result live: The ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu was on Saturday coasting towards victory in the Erode East bypoll, with the party nominee extending his lead against his nearest NTK rival to over 40,000 votes. The votes polled in the February 5 bypoll was taken up for counting on Saturday, and the DMK nominee V C Chandhirakumar was leading right from the word go. At the end of eight rounds of counting, the DMK candidate, an ex-MLA, was ahead of his Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) rival M K Seethalakshmi by a strong margin of 44,005 votes, the Election Commission said.

After 13 rounds of counting, DMK's Chandhirakumar VC is still in the lead with 90,064 votes.

Naam Tamilar Katchi candidate MK Seethalakshmi is trailing by a margin of 19,091 votes.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated the BJP workers for a "historic victory" in the Milkipur bypolls.

In a post on X in Hindi, Adityanath said, "Heartiest congratulations to all the dedicated party officials and hard working workers for the historic victory of Bharatiya Janata Party in the by-election of Milkipur Legislative Assembly seat!"

"Congratulations to the winning candidate Chandrabhanu Paswan and hearty greetings to the people of Milkipur Assembly constituency who gave their votes to the development journey and good governance of Uttar Pradesh! Jai Shri Ram!" the CM said.

BJP candidate Chandrabhanu Paswan has won the Milkipur bypoll with 1,46,397 votes. He beat Samajwadi Party's Ajit Prasad by a margin of 61,710 votes, shows data from the Election Commission of India.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of "misusing" the electoral machinery to win the bypoll elections.

"The true victory of PDA in Ayodhya in the Lok Sabha elections is many times greater than their false victory in the Milkipur Assembly and will always be so," he said in a post on X.

In a post on X, Yadav also said, "The BJP cannot face the growing power of PDA on the basis of votes, that is why it tries to win by misusing the electoral machinery.

"This is a false victory, which the BJP will never be able to celebrate by looking into their own eyes in the mirror. Their guilt and the fear of future defeat will keep them awake," Yadav added.

BJP's Chandrabhanu Paswan is in the lead with over 1,40,000 votes. While SP's Ajit Prasad is trailing by a margin of over 61,000 votes.

After 30 rounds of counting in the Milkipur assembly constituencies, BJP's Chandrabhanu Paswan is still in the lead by a margin of 61,710 votes.

He current has 1,46,397 votes, as per official ECI figures.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that the results of the Milkipur bypoll election have put a full stop to the politics of lies and loot.

"This is the victory of the development works done under the leadership of PM Modi for the last 11 years," he told ANI.

BJP leader Aparna Bisht Yadav reacted to the EC trends in favour of the saffron party in Milkipur and told ANI, "This is a consequence of the faith people have in PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath."

After 25 rounds of counting, BJP's Chandrabhanu Paswan is still in the lead with over 1,26,000 votes.

Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister KP Maurya said, "I congratulate Chandrabhanu Paswan... The hooliganism of the Samajwadi Party has lost... This is just the beginning. In 2027, Samajwadi Party will become 'Samaptwadi Party'."

DMK candidate Chandhirakumar VC is leading with over 56,000 votes after 8 rounds of counting. The Naam Tamilar Katchi candidate MK Seethalakshmi is trailing with just 12,041 votes.

After 22 rounds of counting, BJP Milkipur candidate Chandrabhanu Paswan is leading by a margin of more than 51,000 votes.

BJP workers broke out celebrations in Uttar Pradesh's Milkipur as the party's bypoll candidate from the constituency, Chandrabhanu Paswan is leading by a margin of more than 44,000 votes.

Paswan has so far bagged 96,490 votes, as per data from the Election Commission of India.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party candidate Ajit Prasad has so far bagged 54,384 votes.

Milkipur bypoll election result live: BJP's Chandrabhanu Paswan was leading by a margin of 22,152 votes against his Samajwadi Party (SP) rival Ajit Prasad after the eighth round of counting for the Milkipur assembly bypoll on Saturday, according to the Election Commission website. While Paswan polled 41,752 votes, Ajit Prasad, the son of SP's Faizabad MP Awadesh Prasad, got 19,600 votes.

The bypoll was necessitated after Awadhesh Prasad vacated the seat following his election to the Lok Sabha last year. While the SP is looking to retain the seat, the BJP sees the election as an opportunity to avenge its loss in Faizabad in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Milkipur bypoll election result live: As the BJP moves closer to wresting Milkipur from the Samajwadi Party, Uttar Pradesh minister OP Rajbhar said the people of Ayodhya and Milkipur have once again chosen development and chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

“I had already said that the NDA candidate would win with a majority. The public wants development and is happy with Yogi ji’s work,” Rajbhar told PTI after BJP’s Chandrabhanu Paswan took a lead of over 25,000 votes after Round 9 of counting.

Erode bypoll election result live: The counting of votes for the keenly watched Erode (East) Assembly byelection began on Saturday after the strong rooms were officially opened at the counting centre. Security has been tightened outside the counting centre, with personnel from various law enforcement agencies deployed to ensure a smooth and secure process. According to the Election Commission of India, the voter turnout stood at approximately 67.97 percent. The AIADMK and BJP boycotted the by-election, which was necessitated by the passing of Congress legislator EVKS Elangovan on December 14, 2024.
