The Uttarakhand government said all the people on board the helicopter were safe.
A helicopter carrying chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar and additional chief election officer of Uttarakhand Vijay Kumar Jogdand made an emergency landing in a village near Munsiyari due to bad weather, PTI reported.
All the people on board the helicopter are safe, the Uttarakhand government said.
Pithoragarh District Magistrate Vinod Girish Goswami said the chopper, which was on its way to Milam Glacier, left at around 1pm.
However, due to the cloudy weather and low visibility, it landed on a helipad in Ralam village, 42 km away, at around 1.30pm, he said, according to PTI.
Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat said that four different teams were rushed to the spot for assistance.
“CEC had a program in Milam today. Today afternoon, I got to know from DM Pithoragarh that CEC's flight had to make an emergency landing in Ralam village due to bad weather. The CEC and his crew are safe,” he told ANI.
