A 350 kg samosa for Rs 50,000 - that’s what young people in eastern UP’s Maharajganj district have prepared in a world record setting bid.

The 12-member team took over 14 hours from Monday night to Tuesday morning to make the samosa in Maharajganj’s Siswan locality.
They will report their achievement to officials of the Guinness Book of World Records.
The current world record is for a 110-kg samosa made by a team of students from Bradford College in Britain.
Team leader Ritesh Soni claimed his team had broken the existing record.
He said the ingredients included three quintals of potatoes, two quintals of white flour, 20 litre cooking oil, five kg salt and 20 kg of other stuffing.

Large scoops helped turn it over. Thirty tables were joined together to knead the dough. Soni told HT: “We want to put Maharajganj on the world map. Setting the world record will serve that purpose to an extent. It will draw the government’s attention to Maharajganj city, which has been neglected on the development front.”
“Here, we do not have proper roads and pure drinking water. Round-the-clock power supply is still a distant dream,” he said.
