Lok Sabha election: Jharkhand sees 61.41% voter turnout till 5 pm in Phase 6

Jharkhand Lok Sabha election 2024: Check the recent updates in voter turnout data for four Parliamentary seats in Jharkhand.

In the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha election 2024, Jharkhand recorded a voter turnout of 61.41 per cent till the end of polling in the four Lok Sabha constituencies in Jharkhand at 5 pm on Saturday, officials said.

“In Giridih, the voter turnout stands at 65.44 per cent. In Dhanbad, it is 58.90 per cent. In Ranchi, it is 58.73 per cent. In Jamshedpur, it is 66.79 per cent. This data, however, will be updated later,” Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar was quoted by PTI as saying.

Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan said in a post on X, “Today, I exercised my right to vote at Shri Krishna Institute of Public Administration, Ranchi. I urge all voters to exercise their right to vote. Ensure your participation in this great festival of democracy.”

Twenty-seven candidates are fighting the elections from Ranchi, 25 each from Dhanbad and Jamshedpur, and 16 from Giridih. Around 82.16 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes in these four constituencies, with Dhanbad having the highest number of electors at 22.85 lakh, and Giridih having the lowest at 18.64 lakh.

In the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha election, West Bengal recorded the highest voter turnout (77.99 per cent) followed by Jharkhand (61.41 per cent), Uttar Pradesh (52.02 per cent), Odisha (59.60 per cent), Jammu and Kashmir (51.35 per cent), Bihar (52.24 per cent), Haryana (55.93 per cent), and Delhi (53.73 per cent) at 5 pm.

As per the ECI data, the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections for 58 parliamentary constituencies saw a cumulative voter turnout of 57.7 per cent till 5 pm.

The first five phases of the Lok Sabha elections saw a low voter turnout as compared to the 2019 general elections in India. The voting for 428 parliamentary constituencies for 25 states and UTs is already complete for the Lok Sabha polls.

The seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha polls will take place on June 1, and results will be announced on June 4.
